Heating and Air Conditioning Preventative Maintenance
“WHY IS HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SO IMPORTANT?”
Just like your car, your heating and air conditioning systems are relied on daily to provide you with comfort. You wouldn’t drive your car for 10,000 miles and decide that you’re not yet ready for an oil change. A strong Preventative Maintenance program is the key to keeping your heating and air conditioning systems running efficiently and reliable. Each year your system goes through a rigorous season of starts and stops, blistering summer days and frigid winter nights. Each year your system should be maintained and inspected to ensure the best possible efficiency so that you can rest easy knowing that your utility bills will be lower and your system will run reliably.
“WHAT DOES A GOOD HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE CONSIST OF?”
For starters, a good preventative maintenance visit should take around 2 hours. For heating equipment that utilizes a fuel for its primary heat source like natural gas or oil, a combustion analysis should be performed before AND after any maintenance is completed. This will give the customer an understanding of how well the preventative maintenance was completed and what type of reliability they can expect. Units should be cleaned of all debris, wiring should also be cleaned of debris and inspected for strong connections. Amperage readings should be taken of all power consuming equipment and verified with listed manufacturer’s specs. No single part is less important than another, all parts should be examined for defects and repairs or replacements should be made ONLY WHEN NECESSARY. To obtain the best possible system efficiency and reliability, everything needs to work together as designed.
“HOW MUCH SHOULD HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE COST?”
Everyone is familiar with the old saying, ” You get what you pay for.” This is also true with preventative maintenance. I’m sure everyone has also seen those $45, $55 or $65 “tune-ups” that come around before EVERY cooling and heating season. Those are drive by quick checks as I like to call them or your typical bait tactic. There isn’t much to them, but you can bet the technician will find something wrong with the system that’s not part of the advertised price. Please be careful when choosing a company to perform preventative maintenance. At Boiling Point Mechanical, there’s no gimmick pricing, no commission paid technicians and our maintenance program is designed to get your system back up to peak performance with incredible reliability.
